Learn how Radiant Log Management stores your security data and what retention options are available for your organization.

Storage Configuration

Radiant Log Management gives your organization full control over how and where your security data is stored. There are two storage configurations are available: Bring Your Own Bucket (BYOB) or Radiant-Managed Storage. Since your choice is made during initial setup, it is worth taking the time to select the option that best fits your organization's long-term needs.

Important note: If your storage configuration needs to be updated after setup, all data ingested up to that point will be dropped and a fresh start will be required. Data can be backfilled by re-ingesting from your connectors, but this will require additional time. Contact the Radiant Success team before making any changes.

Bring Your Own Bucket (BYOB)

With BYOB, your security data is stored in your own AWS S3 bucket. You retain full ownership of your data, control your own retention policies, and are not dependent on Radiant's storage infrastructure.

Radiant strongly recommends BYOB for all production environments. BYOB gives your organization full ownership and control over your security data - including custom retention policies, no vendor lock-in, and full compliance flexibility. Radiant-managed storage is intended for POC and testing purposes only.

Radiant-Managed Storage

Radiant-managed storage is available for proof of concept and testing purposes. With this configuration, Radiant hosts and manages your log data on your behalf. All data remains fully accessible and searchable within the Log Management interface.

Retention Policies

Retention policies define how long ingested data is kept across each index in Log Management. Retention works differently depending on your storage configuration:

BYOB Customers

BYOB customers manage their own retention policies directly within their AWS S3 bucket, giving your organization full control over how long data is kept in line with your compliance requirements.

Radiant-Managed Storage Customers

For Radiant-managed storage customers, default retention policies are configured per index and can be reviewed by navigating to Settings > Organization > Log Management.
